Today the Zune HD was released so like I promised myself, I went out and got the 32gb version. Been in dire needs of an mp3 player ever since my 6 year old iPod died and when I heard about the Zune HD I told myself I’d get one. And now that I have one I thought I’d do something a little special just for the hell of it. Most nerds love getting and opening gadgets so what better way to celebrate than a good ol’ unboxing!

So let me preface by saying, I don’t have a good camera or a nice place to take stills of stuff. So I just pushed back my keyboard, took a nearby desklamp and aimed it to give me better light. Okay so let’s start off.

Very small box reminiscent of Apple’s packaging. In fact the whole process of unpacking it is very Apple-esque which I love. Anyway box is fairly pretty. I’m always a sucker for minimalistic design.

The backside of the box. Big words = cool.

Slipping the cover up to slowly reveal the Zune HD. Feels a bit naughty.

Box has a cubby underneath the Zune. Houses various manuals and cables.

Love the little symbols representing the USB and headphone cables.

Again, big lowercase letters are sexy.

So finally the player. It’s a heck of a lot lighter than I thought it’d be which is always a plus.

Backside is brushed metal. Hated the old iPods which had scratch and fingerprint magnet backs.

Powering on for the first time. Zune symbol.

Little rainbow progress bar shows.. progress. Takes about 15 seconds to power on.

Find the interface very sexy especially when compared to the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Okay that’s all for now. Gotta play around with it more and upload stuffs. Yeey.
