Now everyone who follows me on Last.fm knows that I love me some Radiohead. What most people don’t know is that I actually like rap. But since I don’t get much exposure to it and don’t like listening to the radio I rarely listen to rap. Now here comes along Jaydiohead which mixes Jay Z lyrics and Radiohead tunes to pretty awesome results. This might actually push aside She & Him on my ‘Currently Addicted To’ list which is a mighty feat. Recommend anyone with an open mind to check this out. (more…)

Came across Zooey Deschanel’s new Cotton commercial thanks to a link from slashfilm. Instantly fell in love with it for it’s fun vocals and well ’cause it’s Zooey. After a few listenings I decided to check out her imdb page. While looking over her trivia, found out she was in an independent band called She & Him so I immediately ran over Demonoid to see what it was about.

Found their first album Volume One and must say for the most part I really like it. The sound is a crazy mix of pop, jazz, and country and it comes out very nicely. Only tracks that I am not too fond of are the two 100% country songs considering my tastes, but in their own right they’re not too bad. My favorite tracks from the album are Sentimental Hearts, Why Do You Let Me Stay Here, Change Is Hard, and Sweet Darlin’. Can’t really say what draws me to these songs but I just cannot stop listening to them. Anyway if you’re into the whole indie scene or just looking for a super fun album, I highly recommend checking them out. You won’t be disappointed. (more…)
